Facilitators
Every cohort has a certified facilitator.
Facilitators are certified individuals who work through hubs, and BBC's aim is that local people run the studios in their own communities.
A route in three stages
- ParticipateTake part in a cohort to see the method from the learner's side.
- Co-runRun a cohort alongside an experienced facilitator.
- Lead and certifyLead a cohort and be certified to run studios locally.
What a facilitator does
- Plans each cycle of the Community Problem Studio.
- Arranges the community partner's visits.
- Decides whether to go on, redesign or stop at step 2, and signs off safety at step 6.
- Runs the three short unaided checks and keeps the records on paper first.
- Reports safeguarding incidents to the core team.
Support
The plan is for a small central team to train facilitators, hold a weekly office hour, review sample build logs and keep a channel open for urgent safeguarding questions. It will not run sessions in other people's hubs. These supports are designed but not yet in place.
Training and certification fees, if any, are still being decided. BBC's intention is that fees never exclude someone who cannot pay, through sponsored places.
